Packaging Regulations

Throughout Australia, local, state and Federal Governments are looking to drive towards a more sustainable future by implementing a range of measures to reduce single-use plastic and improve sustainability across all packaging.

These measures range from the 2025 National Packaging Targets (and the Federal regulations to follow this to be announced through the second half of 2024) to state-based single-use plastic bans and even localized decisions on packaging for events.
With an ever-changing landscape, it is increasingly important for brands to stay on top of any recent developments and pivot their packaging strategy to meet these or run the risk of financial or reputational damage that comes from non-compliance.
The changes that have been experienced in recent months have included bans on plastic packaging products in South Australia and West Australia, with some very distinct differences in what is classified as plastic and what is exempt from these regulations, while the East Coast states take a more cautious approach causing confusion and fragmentation in supply chains.
At Star Group we have an expert team dedicated to monitoring these developments while keeping our partners informed of any changes and how they will impact packaging utilized within their business.  Our national warehouse model enables us to manage differing packaging requirements with ease, whilst maintaining the ability to transfer inventory as required.
As we await further announcements on packaging regulations in the future, you can be confident in Star Packaging as your partner in navigating this landscape.
